About the ABA and ILAB

Antiquarian Booksellers Association
The ABA, is the senior trade body for dealers in rare and fine books, manuscripts and allied materials in the UK. Flagship event of the ABA is the London International Antiquarian Book Fair at Olympia.
All books at the fair are from exhibitors who must be an affiliate of ILAB and member of their own country’s national antiquarian booksellers association (i.e. ABA) with a rigorous code of good practice.

International League of Antiquarian Booksellers
ILAB is a global network for the rare book trade with its legal location in Geneva. Its aim is to improve professional standards, promote honourable conduct in business and to contribute in various ways to a broader appreciation of the history and art of the book.
ILAB’s members are twenty national associations representing nearly 2000 booksellers in thirty countries.

The Antiquarian Book Fair, Chelsea
Also managed by the ABA, the Chelsea Antiquarian Book Fair brings together around 70 UK and overseas antiquarian booksellers at London's friendliest antiquarian book fair. Held in the very beautiful Chelsea Old Town Hall on the fashionable Kings Road, the fair is an excellent place to visit in the run up to Christmas! The next fair is on Friday and Saturday, 4th & 5th November 2011.

Edinburgh Book Fair, 2011
In 2004 the first ever joint fair between the country's two major antiquarian book-selling organisations was established and building on the success of this pioneering venture a joint fair has been held in each subsequent year.
The 22nd Edinburgh Book Fair will be held on Friday 11th and Saturday 12th March, 2011 at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Royal Mile, Edinburgh. With around 60 dealers from across the UK, the ABA will exhibit in the Dunedin Suite and the PBFA in the Canongate Suite. Please visit the PBFA managed website for details:

Book Trade History Conference
The annual Book Trade History Conference, organised by Robin Myers, Michael Harris and Giles Mandlebrote in association with the Antiquarian Booksellers Association, is now in it's 32nd year. This theme of year's conference (held in November) was 'The Book Trade and the Classical World' and was held at the Warburg Institute in London's Woburn Square. Details of the 2011 conference will be published soon.
