Hand-Press Printing

St. Bride Library

Demonstrations and workshops teaching the art of hand-press printing and typesetting, including printing blocks on a galley press, printing using an Adana press, and hand setting type.

Designing, Printing and Publishing Books with Original Prints

Old Stile Press

Frances and Nicolas McDowall will demonstrate the making of their newest book Talking through Trees using woodcuts and photopolymer blocks, and hand coloured woodcuts for the ten copies of the special edition. They will also discuss with visitors why illustrated fine press books are worth collecting for the future, and how collectors might focus their interests in this area.

Otter Bookbinding

Marysa will be demonstrating bookbinding techniques such as headband sewing, and will offer an embossing service. She will also show case and demonstrate techniques used in book repair and newly bound books and will share the solutions to some of the more bookish problems she has encountered.
