Description / Condition

FIRST EDITION.A stunning fine copy in fine dustwrapper and original red wrap around band announcing this title as the Book Society choice for August. The pages are crisp and bright and look like they have never been read. The black cloth is fine and clean and the gilt lettering on front board and spine still bright and sharp. The wrapper has no fading to the spine--a problem which most copies suffer from--the yellow still fine and bright from top to bottom. The red wrap around band, again in fine condition without any fading or marking,is the correct one for this title with the book title printed in black on the inner flap.An amazing survivor.Quite simply a fine copy of this scarce book. The best i have ever seen in 20 years of rare book dealing.---Housed in a beige cloth clam-shell case with brown morocco label to spine, lettered in gilt.A Haycraft-Queen cornerstone, superbly filmed by Alfred Hitchcock, starring Laurence Olivier and Joan Fontaine.
