Being a series of original and select views, exhibiting the picturesque beauties, local peculiarities, and places of particular interest in The Isle of Wight, drawn from nature and Engraved by George Brannon, many years resident in Newport. To which are prefixed, a copious topographical description and the general tours of the Island, embracing every information in the least degree useful to Strangers. -- New edition, corrected up to the year 1825., Published by the Engraver, Kingsland, Southampton. 1825. 1825

New Edition. Oblong quarto. (12 x 9.5 inches). Finely illustrated with a full page map and 26 full page engraved views, each with a tissue guard and 42 pages of text. Complete.

A very good copy in contemporary boards with marbled paper and tan calf corners. Re-spined to match with tan calf. Spine with five raised bands. Compartments ruled and lettered in gilt. Marbled endpapers. Two Armorial bookplates on front endpapers of Frederick Dawes Danvers and the Right Honourable William Henry Smith, a member of the famous Newsagent family who married Danvers Daughter Emily in 1858, and a neat inscription from Danvers to his daughter, dated 1845, written on the front blank endpaper. Corners of the binding bumped and edges rubbed but overall a very good copy of this attractive book.
