The set is in very good condition with a few spots of foxing to the foredge and one or two volumes have the faintest wear to the top of the spine.

This edition is limited to 500 copies signed by Thomas Hardy at the front of Volume 1. This set has been bound in half leather and cloth covered boards by the Sydney binder J A Martyn and has a small label from the binder attached to the rear of the first volume. There is a copper plate etched frontspiece portrait of the author by W Strang at the start of volume 1 and the "Map of Wessex of the Novels and Poems" at the rear of Volume 2. The paper throughout bears the water mark of Thomas Hardy.
