Note
O'Begly was a priest & private tutor in Paris, where his dictionary was printed. The work is also a phrase-book, containing numerous vivid expressions such as, 'He made a hard shift to wriggle his body into a hen roost', 'She has a free way of dancing', and 'A feak took hin'. O'Begly also designed the Irish type used for this work. The work also contains, at the end, an Irish Grammar by the Poet and Antiquary Hugh MacCurtain, which had been printed previously in Louvain in 1728.
