[Woolf] Stephen, Virginia.

Autograph letter signed from a young Virginia Stephen to her future brother-in-law Clive Bell., c.1906

Autograph letter signed from a young Virginia Stephen to her future brother-in-law, Clive Bell, on 46 Gordon Square stationery. Though undated, the letter must have been written in 1906, when Virginia and her sister lived at 46 Gordon Square, their first Bloomsbury residence. In the letter Woolf asks Bell to reschedule a social call planned for the next day: "Dear Mr. Bell, I find that it would suit Vanessa better if you could come at 2 instead of 5. Could you lunch here first at 1.30..." Mention is also made of the very ill Thoby Stephen, who was to die later that year.Vanessa and Clive married in 1907.
